These pics were shot at the Atlanta stop on George’s 1974 North American tour. The tour was presented by Bill Graham, who was the hallmark of quality production. Great lighting, great sound, and unfortunately for me, great security. This was a reserved seating show, so I couldn’t just camp out at the front of the crowd. I think I offered to give some prints to a security guard if he’d let me shoot a few songs while kneeling in the aisle towards the front.
Sometimes, good stage lighting does not make for the most flattering photography. There was a lot of yellow spotlight used during the few songs I was able to shoot. George was a bit hoarse, but not jaundiced, though you’d never know it from some of these pics.
